Zeeta Cake Co Ltd was created in 1919 as a separate business by a group of directors of John Barker & Co Ltd, department store retailers, of London. The company operated a bakery and confectionery business and was used as a local means of distribution for cake shops and restaurants. By 1925, it had a chain of high-class catering shops in London. In 1925, the company was acquired by John Barker & Co Ltd and, some time after 1928, the company's name was changed to Zeeta Co Ltd. In August 1957, John Barker & Co Ltd was acquired by House of Fraser Ltd, department store retailers, of Glasgow. In January 1958, fourteen of the Zeeta shops were closed with only three remaining: in Putney, Croydon and Kingston. Between 1959 and 1962, the remaining shops were disposed of. Zeeta Co Ltd was officially liquidated in 1974.
