The day book contains details of individual orders for funerals, 1904-1912. Details recorded include date, name and address or person paying for funeral, name and age of deceased and details of hearse, coffin, shroud, stationery and dues. Also included in the volume are lists of outstanding accounts, 1913-1932.

This day book was originally maintained by Peter Moir, funeral undertakers and carriage hirers, of Edinburgh. In about 1909, Peter Moir was acquired by W T Dunbar & Sons Ltd. W T Dunbar & Sons Ltd took over the operation of Peter Moir's branch office in Great Junction Street, Leith. It appears that this volume relates to that branch office.
